Justess Joan (all’anagrafe Joan “Nanook” Webley) è un’artista, avvocato e attivista giamaicana. Prima di dedicarsi alla musica, si afferma come esperta di proprietà intellettuale e manager culturale a Kingston, lottando per i diritti degli artisti e lo sviluppo etico della cannabis terapeutica.
La transizione al canto nasce dal bisogno di usare la propria voce per il cambiamento sociale. Il suo nome d’arte gioca non a caso con la parola Justice (Giustizia). Musicalmente sposa il Roots Reggae, debuttando con il singolo Level Up, un inno alla responsabilità collettiva. Oggi vive nel Salento, terra con cui ha stretto un legame viscerale. Come presidente dell’associazione JAMIT, promuove la cultura caraibica in Italia organizzando festival e workshop di lingua Patois.
La sua musica unisce Kingston alla Puglia, come dimostra il brano Hands Up (South Rockers Records). A consolidare questo percorso è il nuovo singolo “My Turn”, un pezzo che riafferma la sua identità di artista militante, portando avanti un messaggio di resistenza pacifica, spiritualità e risveglio della coscienza comunitaria.

Justess Joan (born Joan “Nanook” Webley) is a Jamaican artist, lawyer, and activist. Before embracing music, she established herself in Kingston as an intellectual property expert and cultural manager, fighting for artists’ rights and the ethical development of the medical cannabis industry. Her transition to singing stems from a need to use her voice for social change.
Her stage name playfully nods to the word Justice. Musically rooted in Roots Reggae, she debuted with Level Up, an anthem for collective responsibility. Today, she lives in Salento, Italy, sharing a deep bond with the region. As president of the JAMIT association, she promotes Caribbean culture through festivals and Patois language workshops.
Her music bridges Kingston and Apulia: following Hands Up (South Rockers Records), her journey continues with the new single “My Turn”, produced by the Italian reggae powerhouse Adriatic Sound. The track reaffirms her identity as a militant artist, spreading a message of peaceful resistance, spirituality, and community awakening.
