Nata a Bull Bay, in Giamaica, Yeza, conosciuta come “The Lyrical Lioness”, è un’artista capace di unire il conscious roots reggae all’energia della dancehall. Cresciuta nella cultura dei sound system e laureata in Storia alla University of the West Indies, fonde nei suoi testi consapevolezza sociale, spiritualità ed energia caraibica. Debutta nel 2017 con “Irie”, affermandosi come artista indipendente in un settore prevalentemente maschile.
Il suo stile, definito “Future Roots”, attira l’attenzione del produttore e selector RoryStoneLove, con il quale realizza brani come “Road Runner” e “Rude”. La svolta arriva con “Organic”, un inno alla bellezza naturale successivamente reinterpretato in un remix con l’icona della dancehall Patra. Born in Bull Bay, Jamaica, Yeza, known as “The Lyrical Lioness”, is an artist who combines conscious roots reggae with the energy of dancehall. Raised within sound-system culture and holding a degree in History from the University of the West Indies, she brings together social awareness, spirituality and Caribbean energy in her lyrics. She made her debut in 2017 with “Irie”, establishing herself as an independent artist in a predominantly male industry.
Her style, described as “Future Roots”, attracted the attention of producer and selector RoryStoneLove, with whom she recorded songs including “Road Runner” and “Rude”. Her breakthrough came with “Organic”, a celebration of natural beauty later reworked in a remix featuring dancehall icon Patra. Her collaboration with Sizzla Kalonji on “Glory” and performances at festivals such as Rebel Salute have helped strengthen her international profile.
Yeza combines deep spirituality with a free and confident expression of femininity. When she is not touring or recording, she returns to Bull Bay, where she continues to develop new music.
